History of the
Middle Georgia Inspectors Association
In February of 1994 the inaugural meeting of the Middle Georgia Inspectors Association (MGIA) was held in Macon, Georgia with approximately six (6) inspectors from the central Georgia area in attendance. All those in attendance were in unanimous accord with the organizing of a BOAG (Building Officials Association of Georgia) chapter association. Mr. John Champion was elected as the founding President at this meeting. Following this, the first membership meeting of the organization was held on March 30, 1994 in order to hold the election of officers to allow more involvement in the election process.
Over the years the Association has presented numerous educational courses and seminars on building code regulations, building products and building methods.
Today, the Association is thriving with approximately 87 members actively participating in the various training programs leading to fulfilling the required continuing education credits.
The MGIA remains committed to excellence in following the aims and objectives of its founding members and to providing and encouraging a high standard of inspection services.
